At Home
If your loved one passes away at home, the first step is to contact a doctor. If the passing is sudden, an ambulance should be called, and they will help you contact a local doctor who can issue a certificate. If a doctor is unavailable, the police may need to be contacted. If your loved one was receiving palliative care, the palliative care team may issue a temporary certificate.

At Hospital
If your loved one passes away in a hospital, certain public and private hospitals have provisions to hold your loved one until you get in touch with our office.
At a Nursing Home
If your loved one is currently residing in a nursing home or a private hospital, it is advisable to inform them of your preferred funeral director. The doctor will issue a Medical Cause Certificate, and the nursing home or hospital will contact the funeral director on your behalf. Making funeral pre-arrangements in advance is always wise to avoid any last-minute stress or confusion.
